It's been a while since I thought of you. The past few years have been a great adventure. Today I find myself on a plane heading toward another adventure, to Peru. We've traveled a lot; later I'll tell you about all the trips we've taken.
I wanted to take some time to write you this letter and tell you that I haven't forgotten you. I know a lot of time has passed since I last thought of you, but I've never forgotten your dreams and wishes. Ever since the days we read the story of a little prince, we promised each other we'd never forget. And even though we haven't spoken in a long time, I haven't forgotten that promise.
Today, May 15, 2026, I feel that my life, our life, is looking more and more like the one we dreamed of.
That dream was simple: let imagination fly and always do whatever makes us happy. Not fall into the abyss of adulthood, to not settle for social norms, and simply live each day as if it were the last.
It's been difficult, but I've stayed focused on that promise. You were always imaginative and different, and you still are. Many judged and criticized you, and they still do. You never cared. Honestly, I still don't.
I want to thank you for always being who you are. And for helping me navigate this difficult adult life.
I'm not just going to tell you about our trips; I'm also going to share all the things that have shaped our character and our outlook on life here on Earth. We always observed the earth and its curiosities. The beautiful flowers, the wings of butterflies, the reflection of the sun on the horizon, and all the curious humans the earth holds and with whom we share our days. One of them stole my heart.
Anyway, I'm writing you this letter for two reasons:
1. To say: hello, I haven't forgotten you, and I'll be writing you more letters. I'm sorry the first one arrived many years late.
2. I promise not to break my original promise: I will never forget you, and I will do anything and everything I can to fulfill all your heart's dreams and wishes.
I'll always believe in you,
Ethan
